JANUARY 2005: Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott officially opened the new Preston Road police station - Marfleet & Southcoates Local Policing Team.
APRIL 2005: Child Dynamix and East Hull Community Transport become independent social enterprises.
APRIL 2005: New East Hull Centre for Horticulture opens its doors for courses and meetings. Yorkshire Forward awards grant to build construction training workshops.
JUNE 2005: Children’s Centre wins community benefit category of Yorkshire Urban Renaissance Awards.
JULY 2005: First staff appointed to the community facility, to be known as the Freedom Centre. Jean Brown becomes Senior Operations Manager; Nathan Brennan the Operations Manager.
AUGUST 2005: Preston Road Carnival staged at new venue, John Hadland Park.
SEPTEMBER 2005: Princess Anne visits the Freedom Centre, ahead of its opening to the public, and Child Dynamix
OCTOBER 2005: Woodland Trust launches major tree-planting campaign for Hull at the Horticulture Centre.
OCTOBER 2005: PRNDC Board Member Steve Furgusson receives a regional Community Champion award for work with the MUST Men’s Group.
NOVEMBER 2005: Preston Road-based Copshop Crew won Lifestyle 2005 and a trip to Florida.
DECEMBER 2005: Employment team stages an awards ceremony at Craven Park to honour achievement in the three-year project.
DECEMBER 2005: Freedom Centre opens to the public with a carol service, angels’ parade and parties for different age groups.
