JANUARY 2006: Hull City Council opens a customer service centre at the Village Centre.

APRIL 2006: Wow Factor Talent Contest at the Freedom Centre is won by 16 year-old local girl Katie Parsons.

APRIL 2006: Hull Cityimage Bondholders' Breakfast is held at the Freedom Centre

MAY 2006: Campaign against doorstep cold-calling is piloted on Ingland Court

MAY 2006: Euro MP Richard Corbett visits the East Hull Centre for Horticulture as part of the city’s Europe Day.

MAY 2006: Hull in Bloom is launched at the Horticulture Centre.

JULY 2006: Portobello Trading (Hull) Ltd is launched at the Horticulture Centre.

AUGUST 2006: Preston Road Carnival is held at the Village Square.

SEPTEMBER 2006: Official start of building work on 100 houses at the Chevin development, Ellerby Grove.

OCTOBER 2006: NHS Treatment Centre at the Freedom Centre opens its doors for clinics.

DECEMBER 2006: Council Leader Carl Minns and One Hull Chair Kath Lavery attend the launch of building work on the Expressive Arts Centre, Construction Skills Centre, and youth centre.

DECEMBER 2006: Respect Taskforce grants £10,000 to Safe Community Project for mobile CCTV and three mountain bikes to help patrol the area.

DECEMBER 2006: Chairman Don Smallwood awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for services to the East Hull community.
