Service Areas
The focus of our Community Wardens’ activity falls into three key areas: Environmental Issues, Crime Prevention, Social Inclusion.
What we do:
Environmental Issues: Remove discarded needles from public areas and void properties. Dismantle and clear drug dens, Conduct monthly environmental surveys and facilitate the removal and prevention of vandalism, graffiti, dumped rubbish, litter and dog fouling Facilitate installation of litter/needle/dog fouling bins, Report and arrange for the removal of abandoned cars, Monitor and report stray dogs.
Crime prevention: Conduct security surveys, Provide an equipment marking service Offer victim support, Fit locks, bolts and other security measures, Give personal attack alarms to vulnerable, Disseminate community safety information. Make presentations in schools Work with and establish Neighbourhood Watch Schemes, Act as a professional witness Support witnesses of crime.
Social Inclusion: Work to reduce fear of crime, Promote existing social activities, Provide high visibility patrols. Liaise between asylum seekers and local communities, Establish social activities, local help groups and counselling services, Work with young people; establish forums and youth diversion activities, Promote community spirit, Be a friend to everyone.
Add value, Community Wardens also: Provide information to the police to secure anti-social behaviour orders, Support families who are dealing with anti-social behaviour, Initiate crime prevention projects in schools, Prevent people under the influence of alcohol or drugs from causing a risk to themselves or others, Signpost vulnerable people including: the homeless, drug addicts, alcoholics, victims of domestic violence and prostitutes to expert agencies and service providers, Report unauthorised occupancy, Offer help with form filling and letter reading, Deliver ethnic minority and asylum seekers inclusion projects through our Specialist Warden, Project manage a raft of 40 other community safety related projects.
